European head appointed to run Iron Mountain Digital Business Unit

~strengthens market-leading position in records management~

September 7, 2005 - Iron Mountain has appointed Hartmut Wagner as European managing director of its Digital Business Unit, upon completing the integration of recently acquired Connected Corporation. The appointment comes at a time when Iron Mountain is experiencing significant demand for its technology solutions for archiving and protecting corporate information.

For the past four years Wagner has headed Connected GmbH in Germany, where he grew revenues substantially in central Europe. Prior to Connected, Wagner held sales positions at Peregrine Systems and Bull.

In setting up the Digital Business Unit, the management and sales team has also been expanded. The global operations for this business unit are headed from Boston by John Clancy, Executive Vice President of Iron Mountain.

Nick Cater, previously of Connected, will be heading operations in northern Europe for the digital business unit. Prior to joining Connected, Cater held business development positions at Netstore and BT. Cater commented “There is hardly another player in the information and records management sector whose customer relationships are as long-lasting as Iron Mountain's. I am looking forward to leveraging the strengths of the Digital portfolio to this base.”

“Iron Mountain holds a unique position within the records management and data protection market. There's no other company in the world that manages, safeguards and archives information from the physical and digital world on this scale, and this expertise should be used to benefit existing and new customers alike,” said Wagner.

Several market trends continue to drive Iron Mountain's global records management and data protection businesses across the physical and digital spheres, including heightened regulatory compliance requirements, the need for immediate response to requests from legal bodies, the demand for cost-efficient storage, and the ever-present need for disaster recovery readiness. Driven by its long-term strategy to support customer needs through geographical and portfolio expansion, Iron Mountain has been steadily investing in its digital service offerings since 2001. Iron Mountain's digital business is one of its fastest growing segments and is expected to grow by more than 150% in 2005.
